Circular route Wöllstein-Siefersheim-Neu-Bamberg
From the starting point in Wöllstein (Barsac-Allee/Schulrat-Spang-Straße) the signposted hiking trail leads to the Wöllsteiner Schützenhaus. Over an old railroad bridge you cross the Appelbach and reach the former quarries at the Ölberg, where rhyolitic volcanic rocks are exposed.
The path continues through the wildly romantic Wöllsteiner Tälchen. Along the way you can admire sculptures of the "fairy tale path". The refuge "Am Weiher" at the Katzensteiger mill invites you to take a first rest. Along the Appelbach, the trail leads to Neu-Bamberg. The steep climb to the castle ruins is worth it just for the view and a short detour to the castle. The route then descends through the historic alleyways into the town center. Here you will find oyster beds on which houses of the old village center were built.

Behind Neu-Bamberg, the trail climbs up into the vineyards. Past the legendary Ajax tower, the path leads through a nature reserve and vineyards to Siefersheim. In a sand pit sands of a former beach can be discovered, later you pass a fossilized surf cliff.

From here, a detour to the wine village of Siefersheim is worthwhile. Back on the trail, the path continues over the Höllberg, which offers more beautiful views of the landscape. Downhill you pass the water tower, the landmark of the village of Wöllstein, before returning to the starting point.
